Alphabet Energy is commercializing a low cost waste heat recovery technology initially developed at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The revolutionary all-silicon thermoelectric approach lends itself to massive scale, low cost, and high sustainability. Customers may use their waste heat to generate electrical power in the range of microwatts to megawatts. Co-investors include Claremont Creek Ventures, Encana and Texas Pacific Group.
Boulder Ionics Corporation
Boulder Ionics has developed new processes and technology for producing high purity ionic liquid electrolytes. Using a proprietary high-throughput synthesis platform, Boulder Ionics is able to manufacture ultra-high-purity ionic liquids at low cost. Boulder Ionics’ advanced electrolytes and pure ionic liquids have applications in a wide range of products ranging from ultracapacitors to lithium-ion batteries and next generation metal-air batteries. Co-investors include 9th Street Investments, JSR Corporation, Pangaea Ventures and Protonic Capital. Acquired by CoorsTek Specialty Chemicals in October 2014.

RSI (REEL Solar Inc.)
RSI provides technology, tools, materials and know-how to the leaders in photovoltaic manufacturing. The company has developed a proprietary process for Rapid Efficient Electroplating on Large-areas (REEL). RSI works with regional manufacturing partners to deliver the lowest cost locally manufactured photovoltaic modules. The company was founded in 2009 by a team of capital equipment veterans based in Silicon Valley, California. Co-investors include CMEA, Mayfield Fund, Nth Power, and Pangaea Ventures. Acquired by Chinese solar company in April 2014.
